JaVale McGee Agrees to Re-Sign With The Golden State Warriors
McGee averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game last season for the Golden Sate Warriors. He played in 77 regular season games, starting 10 of them. McGee’s solid bench play helped the Warriors capture their second championship in three years. He shot a career-high 65.2 percent from the field in the regular season and a remarkable 73.2 percent during the Warriors’ playoff run.
Looking forward, McGee will provide energy at the center position as a reliable backup in Golden STate. McGee brings playoff experience and has elevated his level in the postseason, as evidenced by his Game 3 performance in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. In that game, McGee put up 16 points in just 13 minutes. The Warriors will need McGee to fill in when needed and be a reliable option on the floor.
McGee is going into his 10th season in the league, during which he’ll be 30 years old. He began his career in Washington. Drafted 18th overall by the Wizards, he played four seasons with them before being traded to Denver. He’s gone on to play for five teams in total, the latest being the Warriors.
